The interstate commerce
commission was was passed by congress in 1887.
after western and southern farmers lobbied for railroad regulation went
unheard and then merchants and shippers wanted the government to ensure them
they would be treated fair by the rail companies, the icc
was set up with 5 members that would investigate complaints of railroad
misconduct and file law suits, this law forbade rebates and pooling. The ICC
was the first of its kind on a Federal level. |
