What Do You Prepare and Submit to Turnitin in Blackboard?

You prepare in one file 2 pages:

1.     1st page of Your 5 Ws (Who, What, When, Where, Why, and sometimes How) chart comparing in short phrases (with the page numbers) the 2 topics that you have chosen.
Where can you see an example? In Good Habits for Evidence or in this
direct link to the method provided there and to its 5Ws chart. From these charts you can determine what would be several possible comparisons. You choose the issues you want to examine. If you need help, ask.

Where can you find the 5Ws charts to copy into your paper? Scroll to the bottom on this webpage.

2.     2nd page of your 1 page Comparison of the 2 topics that you have chosen using the simple citation method shown in the example of the A paper
Where can you see an example? In Good Habits for Evidence or in this d
irect link to the three student examples including the A paper.

If your endnotes (and nothing else) extend to a 3rd page, that is OK.

Where Can You See the Rubric for Grading Your Comparison?

You can find the rubric and how it is used for grading in the Good Habits for Evidence or in this direct link to the explanation of the rubric.

What Are Your Possible Topics to Compare?

Notice that all of the listed Comparison Topics have this same beginning statement:

Using the required readings from our textbook, compare…

You have 3 choices. You’ll find the exact words—without the stacking—for the comparison topic with the 5Ws charts to copy into your file.

The words are stacked to make it a little easier to notice what you compare with what).

1.     Using the required readings from our textbook, compare
Servitude of Africans in English Colonies in the South (about 1620 to 1660)
with Slavery of Africans in English Colonies in the South (after 1660)

In other words, Africans at the beginning of the 1600s compared with those after the 1600s.

2.     Using the required readings from our textbook, compare
Servitude of English Servants in English Colonies in the South (about 1620 to about 1660)
with Servitude of English Servants in English Colonies in the South (1660s through Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676)

In other words, English servants at the beginning of the 1600s compared with those following Bacon’s Rebellion

3.     Using the required readings from our textbook, compare
Slavery of Africans in English Colonies in the South (after 1660)
with Servitude of English Servants in English Colonies in the South (1660s through Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676)

In other words,
African servants and English servants after 1660 through about 1677.
Tip: this is the hardest one because you have to understand both of their earlier periods as well.
